Proud to Be Part of a Winning Barnes U22 Coaching Team Champions of Surrey 2025
This past Sunday, I had the privilege of joining the Barnes U22 coaching team for the Surrey U22 Finals Day, competing for the prestigious John Douglas Cup. The competition featured three strong finalists: Cobham, Reeds Weybridge, and Wimbledon RFC.
It was a highly successful day for Barnes Rugby Club, as we secured two hard-fought victories over Reeds Weybridge and Cobham, setting up a thrilling final clash with Wimbledon.
The final was a showcase of outstanding rugby skill, athleticism, and team resilience. Despite trailing 5–10 at half-time, the squad showed immense character and determination, scoring two crucial tries to clinch the title and be crowned Surrey U22 Champions 2025.
Being part of the senior coaching structure at Barnes RFC enables me to stay closely involved with our pathway players — supporting their progression from Colts and junior rugby into the senior adult sides. This continuity is vital for developing homegrown talent and fostering a strong club culture.
We have an exciting crop of players in this U22 team, and I’m looking forward to welcoming several of them to pre-season training in July.
The future is exceptionally bright at Barnes Rugby Football Club — and I’m proud to be playing a role in shaping it.
